I see the “three copies” rule pop up among hardcore collectors a lot and it never fails to make me laugh because OH SHIT I RECOGNIZE THAT BEHAVIOR IN MYSELF.  I mean.  Not that I actually buy three copies of stuff (one for archival, one for reading, one for lending!), but.  I sometimes REALLY WANT TO.

I don’t do this with EVERYTHING, but if I can afford to and if there’s more than one in stock, I definitely buy doubles of stuff. Rei’s mentality here, at least, certainly mirrors my own.
